FAQ (frequently asked questions) first time RV buyer and
Tax Advantages: Motor homes and travel trailers, as long as they are fully self contained, are tax deductible as a second home. With the high price of today's RV's these deductions may be enough to lower your over all income tax bracket, thereby affording you the monthly payment on an RV. There are some restrictions, so please consult with your favorite tax man.
Financing an RV! How do I finance an RV online? First, in most cases you will choose an RV (unless you would like to be pre-approved). Next you may leave a deposit, via Visa card or check, to secure your RV choice. We then will take your credit application over the phone. At this time, we will schedule a time for you to take delivery (contingent upon credit approval).
Credit Union How do I purchase an RV, if I am financing through my credit union? Once you have chosen your RV, you can leave a deposit to secure your choice, Visa card or check. We will then fax a copy of the purchase order to your credit union.

What to expect during delivery I thought I would take a little time in sharing some suggestions as to taking delivery on your RV, most of these suggestions come from actual customer feed back, I have received as a tech and as a sales representative, before during and after delivery. Many will be obvious and some redundant, as some of you currently own an RV.
PDI: (pre-delivery inspection). Before you will do your walk through on your new RV, (after finalizing payment), your dealer has an RV technician do a complete PDI, new and used. On average, the check list is approx. 200 Items.
Coach: All tanks are filled, monitor panels are checked for accuracy, then tanks checked for any leakage, then drained. All appliances are fired up, refer is checked, (28% freezer 40% Refer) on propane and electric. All doors, cabinets, entry and secondary are checked for alignment and FF (fit and finish). TV, antenna, remotes, and stereos are also checked.
The tech's are allowed (on a 20 to 32 ft RV) appox. 4 hours for the PDI,
Chassis: PDI (time allotment is 1 Hour) and generally done by a certified chassis tech (sometimes done by the coach tech), all fluid levels are checked, batteries are fully charged and checked (not always under load). Tech will then test drive . Very few manufacturers check for alignment, the ones that do, are sometimes delivered out of alignment. Highly recommended to have alignment checked immediately after delivery. Also recommended to have camber set to compensate for highway driving. On class C coaches only, the cab over area tends to lift coach a bit, thereby causing premature tire wear on the outside tread of the front tires.
Travel Trailer & Fifth wheel owners: Be sure and check your wheel lug torque.
Needless to say, as hard as the manufacturers and dealers try, they are unable to catch all the problems that may arise after delivery. That is why we all recommend a one or two day initial trip for each coach, before any extended RVing. At the camp ground is a great time to check every square inch of your coach, this will not only help you get to know your coach, it will help to catch any small problems that may turn into large ones down the road.
Most Triton V-10 owners that break in their engines hard, (not excessively) report better gas mileage. I've heard as high as 15 mpg, more reasonable to expect 8 to 12 mpg. Some report break in at 8k most at 5k.
After purchase: Important things to do!
Two important items to check initially and every year thereafter. Tighten all wire termination lugs 110 volt and 12 volt in your converter box. Yes, even when new, you will find them to be a bit loose, as copper wire is very soft. Please do this every year thereafter, as MANY RV FIRES HAVE BEEN A DIRECT RESULT OF THIS.
Tighten all (snug only) plumbing fittings, especially at...commode, water heater and water pump.
When new coach owners bring there coaches in for warranty work...the most often comment I hear is... "I didn't get most of what the walk through guy said." Most walk through techs are allowed up to four hours for your walk through, most take from one to two hours and "are always" happy to go at your speed. So don't be embarrassed about redundant questions, or taking notes, better yet a portable recorder would even help you more after delivery. You may even want to take a cheat sheet with a list of items you would like to have your walk through tech expound on.
Appliance, coach and chassis manufacturers of late, have very few problems and are very dependable. After your break in period, the only thing we highly recommend is to read and perform "All" maintenance recommended in every manual (appliance, coach and chassis) and of coarse enjoy the wonderful outdoor life! :)
