From the President of RV Shopping Guide:

I'm absolutely , amazed and concerned by the amount of clients we have that Cancer has affected to include the following; Widow's and Widower's, newly diagnosed and of coarse you brave survivors. Bill Phoenix asked if he could send me information and links to forward to a newly diagnosed cancer sufferer. After reading Bill's e-mail, I thought it beneficial to share with all.

Subject: Legitimate Help For The Newly Diagnosed Cancer Suffers. by Bill Phoenix:

Hi, Michael, Ten years ago when I was newly diagnosed with metastatic melanoma, I was more shocked and discouraged than I had ever been. I broke down and sobbed when I called my father to tell him.
I was ashamed and angry that I had the disease. I was worried about what my wife and children would do. I felt completely alone. I knew nothing about my disease and I desperately sought information that would help me understand it and plan my recovery.

I discovered that cancer no longer is the killer it once was. Doctors have many tools to beat it and give people a good quality of life. With many cancers there are actual cures.
It's important to always have hope, stay active in the community, and stay connected with friends.
Those of us with cancer are not victims. We suffer from a disease that is often curable.
It is important to think about survival, not being a victim. Survivors take an active part in managing their disease and having a high quality of life. Although cancer suffers initially think they are alone, they're not. Most cancer suffers are more than willing to help another suffer.

There are support groups in hospitals and through oncologists. There was a time when I thought support groups were not for 'real men' but I discovered the great benefit of talking with others who are going through the same thing, or who have beaten the cancer. It's also okay to take anti-depressants and they'll help if you need them. Anti-depressants take the edge off the incredible anxiety and fear.

I can say from personal experience that life is a lot easier if you don't drink when you're dealing with cancer, and you must not drink if you're taking anti-depressants. There is great power in faith and spirituality.

I started looking on the web for legitimate web sites where I could find good information. It's essential to have good information. Stay away from all treatments in Mexico. Teas don't work. I've compiled the following list.

The U.S. Government's National Cancer Institute (NCI) http://www.cancer.gov/ The NCI web site tells about each type of cancer and where to find clinical trials. Clinical trials are sponsored by a drug company and are aimed at discovering if a new treatment is effective. I was in two clinical trials and the second one gave me Interlukin-II, which I gave myself by injections, and it saved me. The NCI has several ways to help. The following site has telephone numbers and frequently asked questions. I believe they will send a package of information.

http://www.cancer.gov/help The NIH has a web page specifically for bladder cancer suffers: http://www.cancer.gov/cancer_information/cancer_type/bladder/ Another completely trustworthy site is from the University of Pennsylvania. Here's a specific link for bladder cancer. http://www.oncolink.upenn.edu/disease/bladder Here's a link from John Hopkins: http://pathology2.jhu.edu/bladder_cancer/ M.D. Anderson is where some of my early tumors were sent for definitive biopsy and I have great respect for their cancer center. http://www.mdanderson.org/diseases/bladder/?Referrer=Overture&KW=Bladder_Can cer&OVRAW=bladder%20cancer&OVKEY=bladder%20cancer&OVMTC=standard Don't forget the wonderful medical school in Eugene! This is probably enough for any newly diagnosed person. Please forward this to the gentleman with bladder cancer.
